Our Catalina Experience

I thought Catalina Island was going to be a big dud of a port.  Naa, it was great.  Kinda reminded me of Jamaica in places except we were there in the spring and there was a bit of a chill in the air still.  We rented a golf cart and drove around the place (ok Lisa drove...shes the "good" driver).  Driving up in the hills is what reminded me of Jamaica, just not as warm, no rainforrest or Jamaicans.  Ok so maybe it wasn't all that much like Jamaica.  They had some great, quaint shops there.  Not just a bunch of touristy junk stores.  I found one store that was just great, had the best greeting cards, bought a years worth.  I would go back just for that store.  If I think of the name or can find it I will come back here and update this because it was worth the trip.

There's a good beach here too, Descanso beach.  No sand so you might want to bring water shoes (protects feet from rocks, also good for Dunns River Falls in Jamaica) but the water is usually warm in the summer and very clear.
